Why do 70% of Kenyans ignore safety warnings? The National Environment Management Authority, or NEMA, has issued an urgent warning after an overturned truck on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway led to the looting of Sodium Cyanide. This is no ordinary substance. Sodium Cyanide is extremely toxic and can be fatal if ingested or inhaled. The incident happened in the Kambembe area of Rironi, where several containers went missing. NEMA and the Ministry of Health are urging the public to avoid the area and report any sightings of these dangerous containers to the nearest police station or Chiefs' office immediately. Exposure to Sodium Cyanide can cause symptoms like headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath, and more severe reactions such as loss of consciousness. Even small amounts are deadly. Protect yourself and your community. Stay informed and stay safe.
