"Diana," written by Paul Anka, was Anka's first entry onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart rising to the top position and remaining on the chart for 29 weeks (Whitburn, 2013) and landing at the no. 1 position on the UK charts as well (Kutner & Leigh, 2005). He was the first teenager to have a million selling single in the UK (songfacts, 2024). Anka, at 15 years old, wrote the song about his infatuation with his brother and sister's babysitter, Diana Ayoub, who was a number of years older; however, as Anka stated "She was a little out of my league . . . She really didn't want anything to do with me, which made it even worse" (songfacts, 2024). As an aside, "In 1997 only minutes before the accident which killed Princess Diana, Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 played a listener's request for 'Diana' [and then Queen's] 'Heaven For Everyone'. Psychic or what?" (Kutner & Leigh, 2005).
