Hamburger Steaks and Gravy

Hello, you!

Today I'm shining a spotlight on my process for making gravy. There are a few ways to make gravy and many kinds, but the focus of this video is on the gravy in the Hamburger Steaks and Gravy recipe on my website. I didn't edit out any of the roux or gravy building processes so you can see the full thing from start to finish. I was fully grown and a mom myself still asking my mother to make gravy for me before I mastered it, so I hope this helps somebody. :)

The key points are:
- Equal parts fat to flour (I use 2 tbsp fat + flour for each cup of liquid).
- Keep the heat medium or lower, the entire time. Don't rush.
- Take your time with each step and mix everything thoroughly (again, don't rush).

Ingredients:

2 lbs lean ground beef
1 large Vidalia onion, half sliced, half minced
1 large egg, lightly beaten*
2 C water
1 C beef broth
1/4 C unsalted butter
1/4 C all-purpose flour
3 tsp seasoned salt, to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 tsp browning sauce, optional
