EXCERPT: "Welcome to the Shuv Show. I’m your host, Christene Jackman.
Tonight’s topic the phrase, “Heaven is My Home.” An Incomplete Thought.

Whenever believers lift their eyes to the skies say, “Heaven is my home,” I get a little “hmmm,” in my spirit. It is not that I think the statement untrue—for those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life—but I find it an incomplete thought.

After wrestling with attaining clarity on why I get that bit of a check in my spirit when I hear “Heaven is my home,” I finally figured out what is missing from that declaration. Surely one can understand why people would want to shake the dust of this broken planet off and head for the pearly gates when their time is up. The “Heaven is my home” sentiment is taken from these types of verses:

2 Corinthians 5:8b, “ . . . (we) prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.”

Revelation 6:9, “When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar, the souls of those who had been slain because of the Word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained.”

Philippians 3:20, “But our citizenship is in heaven—and we also await a Savior from there, the Lord Messiah Yeshua.”

Yes, there is a time for a believer to reside in the Heavenly realms, but there is an oft forgotten key element to the statement, “Heaven is my home.” For the answer, we need to go back, way back, to the first week of creation.

In Beresheet, Genesis 1:27-28, we read that on the 6th Day, the Creator commanded Adam and Eve to have dominion over the earth and its creatures, and as male and female, to be fruitful and multiply across the planet. Then He declared His creation on the 6th Day to be: “very good, tov meod.”
God designed the Earth to be our habitat, our home. Earth is our home.
Think about it: if all that really mattered was our spirits, then why bother resurrecting these bodies of earth dust? If Heaven was our only goal for a home, then why would God even bother with the future fiery renovation of this current Earth and heavens as related in Revelation 21? Regarding what cleanses the earth:

2 Peter 3:6-7, “For this they (the scoffers) willfully ignorant of this fact: that by the Word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth was formed out of water and by the water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. BUT by His Word, the present heavens and the earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.”

The end goal: The renovated by fire Earth is to be is our cleansed home, and Heaven will come down. Immanuel. God with us. Back to The Garden of Eden situation, sans serpent and sin.
Yes, these two things are true: Heaven is our home. The Earth is our home.

Here’s why I think “Heaven is my Home” is an incomplete thought:
If the earth is not the home for mankind, then God is an inept Creator who can’t finish what He started and the Adversary wins. Remember the goal of the Evil one: “I will be like the Most High.”

The Creator gave dominion to mankind, male and female. Earth is our home, but sin entered the picture and mucked everything up. Hence, the need for Redemption of Covenant Status. As surely as God provided a Redeemer in Messiah Yeshua to bring us back into Covenant Faithfulness with Him, the Most High will also redeem the Earth, our home, for us, cleansing it from defilement and evil, because His Word will stand. The enemy will not win. So don’t abandon the idea of Earth being our Home . . . "
