NYPD Releases Bodycam Footage of Officer-Involved Shooting in Brooklyn

Yesterday, the NYPD released body camera footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 24 at 12:43 a.m. in New Lots, Brooklyn. The incident took place at the corner of Hegeman Ave and Van Siclen Ave, where three shots were fired at a vehicle that fled a traffic stop, striking an officer with the front of the vehicle. The vehicle had been stopped due to a defective rear brake light. No one was hit by the gunfire. The driver was apprehended on May 28 and has been charged with attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree (police officer), and other charges.
