This week, in the wake of the assassination attempt on Trump's life and behind the pomp and noise of the political convention jockeying, working class people got on with their lives...getting up, going to work, and getting things done. It's what we do. It's what we must. The show must go on despite the attacks on our democratic norms and assault on our sensibilities. Early week rallies in the stock market; foreign holdings of US Treasuries at a record high; speculation of what the future holds as it seems all but certain that Trump will win the White House once again.
We only need to track the path of Victor Orban across the globe to see where things are headed. China finished their third plenum.
We found out that foreign relations expert and Trump-Russia conspiracist Max Boot's wife is a spy for South Korea.
Bangladesh shut down their internet as nationwide chaos erupted.
Biden went to ground due to "COVID" and while in the dark Pelosi, Shumer and the rest of the lefty gang worked to get him out of the presidential race for good.
And of course, Donald Trump accepted his party's third nomination to run for President in the autumn, having chosen newcomer JD Vance to accompany him on the ticket.
There were many speeches given throughout the week and the Republican National Convention, and I appreciated how it was opened by reminding the public that the party BEGAN by opposing slavery, and the party of Abraham Lincoln lives on today.
