This Is The Reality About Depression And Other Mental diseases

Mental health is not the absence of disease but the presence of mental flexibility”

Here’s how I interpret that…

The same way an athlete trains his body for the rigors of of competition a mentally healthy person does the same.

▲ To be mentally strong in your identity and vision, knowing who you are and what you want.

▲ To be mentally enduring in your core values and beliefs.

▲ To be mentally flexible in your ability to think differently and hold opposing perspectives without compromise to your values or vision.

A mentally healthy person (and an athlete) meet the stress of the moment with agility rather than a rigidity.

They are fluid.

When we lack flexibility in thinking or movement we run the risk of rips, tears and unnecessary strains.

This is “mental unhealth” [disease] and much like the body that develops scar tissue, inflammation and immobility due to poor flexibility and the related injury our mental state can become the same way, rigid and atrophied.

To improve mental health [flexibility] we need to approach our mental gain the same way an athlete would approach his physical game.

▲ Train for strength and endurance but don’t neglect flexibility & recovery
▲ Continue growing and improving and never stop learning

▲ Join a supportive team that challenges you and raises the bar

▲ Get a coach that helps you see your blindspots.
