What Wondrous Love Is This - Sacred Christian Folk Song - Banjo

What Wondrous Love Is This is a Christian Hymm and traditional folk song. I play it 3 finger style on the mountain banjo. I added quit a bit more reverb with extra feedback to try to capture that ethereal spacey effect, which I thought would work well with this Heavenly song. Let me know if I added too much or maybe not enough even. I know real folk singers would cringe at the very thought of adding any such effects to their music and can understand that. It`s not my best singing performance to be sure. I have always struggled with singing this song. I think it probably requires an angelic type of voice with firm vocal command that can convey strong feeling in a natural way. A church choir singing this in harmony in a cathedral would be an out of body experience.

What Wondrous Love Is This - lyrics
Banjo tuned to fDGCD (relative)

1 What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul?
What wondrous love is this, O my soul?
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul?

2 When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside his crown for my soul.

3 To God and to the Lamb I will sing, I will sing,
to God and to the Lamb I will sing,
to God and to the Lamb who is the great I Am,
while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing,
while millions join the theme, I will sing.

4 And when from death I’m free I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on,
and when from death I’m free, I’ll sing and joyful be,
and through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on,
and through eternity I’ll sing on.

5 What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul?
What wondrous love is this, O my soul?
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the dreadful curse for my soul?
