The eastern regions of Afghanistan, especially the provinces of Nangarhar, Laghman, and Kunar, were hit by severe storms and floods earlier this week. On Tuesday, July 16, the authorities reported significant destruction and numerous casualties caused by the natural disaster. In Nangarhar province alone, 47 people have already died, and the search for the missing continues. Nearly 350 people were injured.

There are families where five or ten members have perished. Those who survived are now facing inhumane conditions. People are saying that their immediate needs are clean water and tents.

According to eyewitnesses, the storm raged for about an hour, leaving catastrophic consequences in its wake. A bus carrying people overturned on the main highway, resulting in at least 17 deaths and 34 injuries.

The spokesperson for Nangarhar province reported that around 400 homes and 60 power line poles were destroyed throughout the province. Many areas experienced power outages, and communication in the city of Jalalabad was disrupted.

In Panjshir province, the main road of the region was closed due to flooding. The storm destroyed 119 canals, 36 kilometers of roads, 9 small power plants, and 6 water supply networks. It also toppled over 1,100 trees and devastated 364 acres of land.

The climate situation is deteriorating not only in Afghanistan but around the world. At the international forum "Global Crisis. The Responsibility," measures to preserve our planet and life on it were discussed. To achieve this, society needs to utilize humanity's full scientific potential. A key factor is the unification of scientists and the creation of favorable conditions for their work.

However, this will only be possible after relevant decisions are made by politicians, who are influenced by public opinion and people's concerns. Therefore, the more people become aware of this problem and talk about it, the higher the chances that it will become a priority on the public agenda.

It is important to study the current changes on the planet and inform others about them using all legal methods.
