Your clothing IS YOUR SHELTER. It is your FIRST LINE of DEFENSE to combat the elements. I go over my CLOTHING gear and the importance of LAYERING, WIND BLOCKING GORE-TEX, WOOL, and SYNTHETICS. The gear in this video has saved my ass many a time in the cold, wet, unforgivingly damp winter weather of Oregon.

UNDERWEAR - Nylon or Merino Wool Blend.
Avoid Cotton in cold weather environments for it absorbs moisture and you'll freeze your balls or eggs off.

BASE LAYER/PAJAMAS - USGI POLYPROPYLENE / 32 HEAT
Probably the most important to me, equal only to my wool socks and caps and gloves. I have a superpower against the cold when wearing it. Massive game changer. My go-to bulletproof Base Layer is the USGI Extreme Cold Weather Polypropylene, TOP, and BOTTOM. They run about $25 each at my local Military Surplus store. Definitely worth the high cost.
I also use the top and bottom set by 32 HEAT. Learned about them from Dave Canterbury. I've been using them for a few years and Highly recommend them, actually, everything I own from 32 HEAT has performed incredibly. (Don't get a Onesie or you'll shit yourself, literally)

BELT
I go with a traditional thick Leather belt. I've tried Nylon tactical belts...not for me. Way too flimsy. I carry a sidearm, GLOCK 19, so I need a sturdy, tough belt to securely hold my holster. Plus, in an emergency situation, you can eat the leather belt strap if you carry TAPA TIO in your MREs.

T-SHIRT
Nylon. No Cotton in cold weather/wet environments. Cotton Kills, not really but it does suck when it's your wet and it's 13 degrees out.

SWEATER
100% Wool or Cashmere. The 3 Rules of Survival are; Wool. Wool. And Wool.
Synthetics are a blessing that has their place, but you can never beat Mother Nature and History. Always wear what the Indigenous Native Peoples wear (for one, it looks cool and two, they are a lot smarter than we will ever be) Wool, Animal Furs, and Skins...
It's worked for Billions of years, so there must be something behind it.

GORE-TEX RAIN JACKET/WINDBREAKER
I like lightweight GORTEX Shells with LARGE HOODS! They are never completely Waterproof as they claim, but with a little yearly spray down on the seams with the mighty FLEX SEAL..... yes, it works...been using it on gear for 25 years. excellent

The wind is a killer. Blocking the wind from hitting your body with some sort of a Shell like a good GORTEX jacket is EXTREMELY important. I've been on gigs where I had a nice Win Blocking Shell and the poor bastard next to me did not. He froze all night because of the wind. I was warm and toasty as I silently giggled at his misfortune.

HAT/CAP
If you watch my videos you are used to seeing me wearing multiple hats. I'm BALD. I hate being cold on the dome. I use a Microfiber/Fleece cap followed by a 100% Wool US ARMY Patrol cap. I mix in a Baseball Cap or Boonie Cap to help shelter from the rain or sun and get a little 007 concealment for nonpermissive stitches.

USGI PONCHO
My favorite Rain Poncho. Once a season I go over all the outside seams with FLEXSEAL. I love the durability of its rip-stop nylon and its large size that is built to sister perfectly with the USGI WOOBIE. Buy one if you can. I've been using mine in the wet Oregon Rain for 10 years. I trust it.
