EXCERPT: "It's winter. Back in November, I noticed the local birds were not frequenting our feeders. It surprised me. Maybe it was the lack of cover, as I had cleared all the plants off the deck. To entice them, I decided to put a big bowl of black sunflower seeds on a stand. But still, no one came.
Recently, I had an ultrasound that revealed a substantial thickening of my uterus. Later, the same day as the test, the phone rang. It was my doctor. I thought, "oh, oh, that's quick. That's not good. They told me it would be two days before I know the result." The tone of her voice was somber as she explained the results of the scan and told me a biopsy would be in two weeks. It may or may not be cancer, but it didn't look good to them.
Wow. Not the news I expected.

The next day I kept myself busy by working, my M.O. for dealing with tough times. Worry doesn't change a thing, so I might as well focus elsewhere. But as I labored, thoughts intruded. I pondered the irony that the womb that once submitted to a procedure that resulted in the death of my child, was now possibly the vehicle that would bring my death. The blood must be balanced. I began to sob and weep anew over the sins of my youth.

As I pondered my dark musings, I then thought of Messiah Yeshua, who is our Goel/Redeemer. The Goel brings life where there is no life, like in the story of Ruth and Boaz. Ruth's husband had died. Boaz became her kinsman Redeemer. Now there would be life. The Goel is also the Blood Avenger, the Blood Balancer. The same one who brings life can also bring death as a measure of justice. Surely my sin was worthy of the death penalty according to our Creator. The blood must be balanced. "The voice of your brother's blood cries from the ground to me." He told Cain.

The voice of the blood of millions who lost their lives this way cries to the Creator from the earth. And not just them, but all the children that would have been born by them. He is just to judge us for it. Life for a life. The good news is this: Messiah, the Goel is the Blood Balancer. He balanced the blood by dying in our place. Messiah Yeshua, whose name in Hebrew means, Salvation, died and took my death penalty upon Himself and I trust that His work is more than sufficient. Savior, Yeshua, "for He will save His people from their sins." If you trust in Him, your sin is covered, cast into the sea of forgetfulness. Now, go, and sin no more. Don't forget that part.

If you refuse His gift, the blood will still be balanced. God is just . . . "
