SILENT PERSPECTIVES (4K) of GORGEOUS Umbrella Falls! | Mount Hood Meadows & National Forest | Oregon

I did this Hike on Aug 5, 2023, from Mount Hood Meadows Trailhead and hiked down to Umbrella Falls, the "cherry picking" lowest effort to highest reward ratio payoff method. :) It is approximately 0.4 Miles, 100 FT Elevation Gain Roundtrip to Umbrella Falls, and it was my first time doing it! Since you are approaching from above the Falls, the first section you get to is a gorgeous section ABOVE the main Waterfall of East Fork Hood River with some beautiful little mini-Waterfalls, so I would recommend making that Waypoint #1 before descending down to the base of Umbrella Falls for the grand view of the INCREDIBLE Umbrella Falls!

Another common approach is to do both Umbrella Falls & Sahalie Falls in a 3.4 Mile, 700+ FT Elevation Gain Loop. While I love me a good Waterfall Loop Hike, because of the geography, both of these Waterfalls are easily accessible directly....this isn't one of those areas where the Waterfalls are in the inner Forest and the only way to get to them is by doing a longer hike.....Sahalie Falls can be viewed from a bridge adjacent at a parking lot and your view doesn't improve doing the hike, and with Umbrella Falls able to be cherry picked from Mount Hood Meadows in a 0.4 Mile Roundtrip, 100 FT Elevation Gain Hike, I don't really see a reason to combine them into a grander Loop. The section of Mount Hood National Forest is somewhat generic and there's a lot of road nose for some sections, so for me at least, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze on this particular one to extend it into a Waterfall Loop Hike, to each their own of course.

I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Umbrella Falls as easily a Top 5 Waterfall Hike in the Mount Hood National Forest area with such a short Hike to get to the Waterfall Zone it is EXTREMELY high quality!
