»»» 40:44 »»» FOX5's Mike Sheehan interviews Jack Taliercio and Dave Corporon at Fulton Street & William Street shortly after 12 p.m. EDT, and is then resuming his teamwork with Mr. Corporon, and making some live appearances on FOX 5 News into the evening.
The FOX 5 news crew was originally composed of reporter Mike Sheehan with photojournalist David Corporon at his side, whilst Keith Lane's task was to capture additional footage. Fellow photojournalist Jack Taliercio eventually joined the team as events unfolded. Reporter Mike Sheehan got separated from his colleagues and temporarily 'lost' in the chaos when the South Tower collapsed, whilst Dave Corporon was standing his ground until the very last moment.
NIST mixed the footage of three fellow FOX 5 cameramen in a big pool of clips, and it is often, but not always, impossible to see at first sight which photojournalist actually captured which footage. Based on my own analysis and on my work experience in that industry, my video differs significantly from other videos which use this footage.
Trivia: There is more to the story. Against popular belief, Jack Taliercio was not originally part of the team around Mike Sheehan. His assignment on that day initially was not news gathering. He was apparently assigned to a kind of scouting mission with another producer. The name of that person, and the exact purpose of that mission, have not been disclosed and remain a secrecy, for obvious reasons.
The most plausible explanation in my opinion is that famous film and television producer Dick Wolf, best known for the successful 'Law & Order' franchise and other works featuring the law enforcement community, was scouting Manhattan for a new project which focused on terrorism. It has been established that Wolf's team indeed engaged in preparations for his new project in New York coincidentally on that day. But when terrorism struck in reality, the film project was ultimately canceled.
I conclude this because Jack Taliercio was accompanied during his spectacular visit of the Plaza between the twin towers by a producer who was not part of the FOX 5 News team, who had not previously collaborated with Mr. Taliercio, and who was apparently not interested in news gathering, but in something else.
In addition, numerous journalists from all media outlets have reported how they were either pushed back by Police officers, or politely ordered to leave the area. Even David Corporon, Keith Lane and Mike Sheehan were denied access to the immediate World Trade Center area, and ordered to leave. This is remarkable because Mike Sheehan had been a seasoned NYPD detective for 25 years before joining WNYW for a new career as a reporter, and he was very well known inside the New York law enforcement community.
The only possibility to access the World Trade Center as a journalist, and even to pass the security desk in Building 4 just minutes from the first collapse, was to either be accompanied by a Police officer, as for instance the cops themselves wanted a copy of Evan Fairbanks' footage, or to have explicit approval from highest authorities. Dick Wolf could have had such exceptional approval. I cannot exclude that any other authority wanted Jack Taliercio to shoot his spectacular footage of the devastation between the twin towers, and the view from the bridge across Liberty Street. When the tower fell, he ran for his Life, alone, and eventually joined his colleagues.
I refrain from digital image manipulation. In my opinion, any so-called 'enhancement', as observed in similar video creations elsewhere, is tampering with evidence. I consider this video document as material evidence in the disaster investigation. My objective is to use as much raw footage as ever available for a highly authentic document, and to avoid edited material if possible. I also conserved artifacts 'as is'.
However, I adapted all footage to NTSC standard (SD), doubled the frame rate to 59.94 fps (60000/1001), and restored the audio when necessary. Though working with, whenever possible, uncompressed footage, Rumble is using their own encoding service and compression standards.
I also created an authentic real-time reconstruction of the minutes during which Dave Corporon was in the dark after the collapse of the South Tower, using video fragments provided by NIST. I decided that it might be valuable for viewers to get an accurate real-time feeling of how long it actually took before activities resumed. The reconstruction is timely synchronized with Kai Simonsen's footage from news helicopter Chopper 5, thanks to Dave Corporon's CB radio. The black-out period in Jack Taliercio's footage has been provided by NIST as a whole. It was impossible to verify it's authenticity, but it is likely that it is.
This video has been created for exclusively educational, non-profit purposes. The usage of commercial footage shall be regarded under the conditions of 17 U.S. Code § 17 / 17 U.S. Code § 512 (f) (Fair use).
Dedicated to the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and in the aftermath of that day. May they rest in Peace.
Thank you for taking the time to inform yourself.
