Since 2014, he had been residing in Canton, Massachusetts, where he took on the responsibility of raising his niece and nephew after their parents passed away. Mr. O'Keefe dedicated 16 years of his life to serving in the Boston Police Department, reflecting his commitment to law enforcement and public service. His tragic death in January 2022 has left a significant impact on his community and loved ones.

Karen Read faces serious charges related to his death, including second-degree murder, vehicle manslaughter, and leaving the scene of an accident. Her defense claims that she is being framed for the incident.
