Ubisoft is in hot water over their new game, Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in Feudal Japan with the "first black Samurai" Yasuke as one of the main characters. Gamers worldwide are furious over wild inaccuracies in the game's architecture and language.

Japanese gamers even started a petition on Change.org to cancel the game, citing a lack of respect for Japanese culture and history. Despite Ubisoft’s significant investment, the backlash is increasing pressure on them to address these concerns.

The character Yasuke, whose historical relevance has been exaggerated, is now under scrutiny. Thomas Lockley, the author of a book on Yasuke, based much of his work on questionable sources and has since distanced himself from the game.

Japanese politician Hamada Satoshi has hinted at bringing the issue before Japan's National Diet, especially concerning the use of AI to depict Japanese culture inaccurately.

To make matters worse, an Assassin's Creed Shadows expo in Paris displayed a katana from the anime One Piece as Yasuke’s sword. The katana, resembling Sandai Kitetsu from One Piece, and a generic weapon stand and Geisha figurine from Amazon have sparked even more outrage.

Gamers are furious over Ubisoft's lack of care in portraying Japan's historical period accurately. The situation is worsening daily, and Ubisoft has only themselves to blame.
