Snowflake Drives From Atlanta To South Carolina To Lower A Confederate Flag Only To Get Arrested

Posted • July 17, 2024: Man arrested after driving from Atlanta to South Carolina to lower the Confederate flag along Interstate 85 because ‘he did not agree with it being flown.’ Police say James Blitch had multiple tools, including a power tool and drill bits. There are "No trespassing" signs on the fence he climbed. Blitch was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on two counts of trespassing. Another vandalism attempt happened to the same Confederate flag on Friday. In 2022, Spartanburg County officials called for the removal of the flagpole, citing a violation of land use ordinances. In 2023, the Board of Zoning Appeals voted in favor of the property owner's right to keep the flag and pole raised.
