The Mysterious Song of the Maule Lagoon: A Natural Phenomenon with Sounds from Another Galaxy

The frozen Maule Lagoon emits a sound that seems extraterrestrial. Although it seems inexplicable, it has a scientific basis.
This sound is caused by the deformation of the ice due to changes in temperature, which causes the lake to expand and contract, causing vibrations.
High frequencies move faster than low frequencies, creating interference that produces a sci-fi-like sound. This phenomenon, known as "singing lakes," is best heard without snow on the surface, and can also be caused by objects hitting the ice, as long as the frequencies are heard properly.
This phenomenon has been recorded on video by the Maule Region Defenders Group.

Laguna del Maule is a volcanic complex in Argentina and Chile that has the shape of a caldera measuring 25 km by 15 km. This caldera is partially occupied by a lake, Laguna del Maule, and contains several small stratovolcanoes, lava domes, volcanic cones and craters.
