Coalition to Remove Biden: Obama and Clinton Allies Join Forces to Remove Biden from 2024 Ticket

High-ranking Democrats, including members of the Obama and Clinton camps, have reportedly formed a committee to remove Joe Biden from the Democratic ticket.

According to a Saturday report by Axios, a coalition of “anti-Biden Democrats” is aggressively commissioning polls, lobbying former presidents, back-channeling Democratic leaders, organizing donors, and taking the fight to Biden in a very public way. This “Committee to Unelect the President” consists of prominent figures within the Democratic Party, including former Obama aides, former Clinton advisers, Congressional Democrats, swing-state Democrats, top donors like actor George Clooney and Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, liberal talk show hosts like Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart, New York Times columnists, and even some Biden aides.

Axios describes this group as “the unofficial Committee to Unelect the President,” with a clear mission to push Biden out of the presidential race as soon as possible. This growing anti-Biden network is circulating polls suggesting that Democrats would improve their chances with a new ticket. Some donors are considering significant financial support for any non-Biden presidential ticket.

These Democrats view the race in simple terms: Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania are crucial. Biden won these states in 2020, forming the Blue Wall. They believe the solution is to identify the two candidates most likely to win these states, disregarding loyalty to Biden or even Vice President Harris.

The anti-Biden Democrats are sharing texts, emails, and polling data, engaging in media battles, and circulating stories and arguments by sympathetic journalists like Ezra Klein and Matt Yglesias. They are also in discussions with lawmakers to pressure Biden and his inner circle. They recognize that Biden and his family seem unyielding, so they hope to leverage the influence of figures like the Obamas, Clintons, Schumer, Jeffries, and Pelosi.

Democratic strategist James Carville noted that former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are subtly urging the Biden campaign to step aside. “Silence is a very loud form of speech,” Carville said. “No one is saying ‘come hell or high water.’”

A former official from Bill Clinton’s White House told Axios, “The Clinton diaspora is freaking the hell out. But all these people going on the record aren’t helping. All it seems to have done is cause the Bidens to dig in deeper.”

Remarkably, the New York Times on Saturday accused Republicans of promoting a “conspiracy theory” that Democrats are secretly working to remove Biden from the ticket. However, Axios simultaneously reported that Democrats are indeed plotting to replace Biden. The Times stated, “The idea that Democrats would plot to replace Mr. Biden has meshed with views perpetuated by former President Donald J. Trump about the Democratic Party, that its members are not just politically wrong, but remarkably conniving.”

The Times further noted that this “conspiracy theory” gained traction due to another baseless belief among Trump supporters that Biden is merely a puppet of Democratic elites or a shadowy political body referred to as the Deep State.

This contradiction has led to further scrutiny of the Times' reporting.
