From studying Scripture, Bonhoeffer wrestled with the questions; 'Should Christians submit to, or oppose, evil governments?‘ 'What is the role of government before God?’ ‘What is the role of the church?’, ‘

Bonhoeffer Part 4: SHOULD CHRISTIANS OBEY OR DISOBEY EVIL GOVERNMENTS? These questions impacted us during lockdowns, and impact us more each day as governments become more secular and Christina values are 'demonised'.

The Nazis demanded the church enforce the ‘Aryan paragraph’, the law which removed all rights from Jews to German society, and remove the Bible and the cross in exchange for nazi symbols. The church held a synod for which Bonhoeffer prepared a paper. In deciding how the Church should respond to the Jewish question Bonhoeffer especially did a deep dive into Romans 13.

In Part 4 we consider Biblical incidences when God's people were told by kings and rulers to disobey God's laws. As we discuss what they did, the question is what choices we make when we face with life and death decisions as governments push laws that violate God's laws.
