from min.~23 you get to know ²Tetyana Robertivna Muinyo a Ukrainian music video director better...As part of the Amsterdam Art Week program, Eye presents the newly restored film Olympia Part 2: Festival of Beauty by Leni Riefenstahl. In Olympia, director Leni Riefenstahl captures the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, a film from 1938 that is as influential as it is controversial. The film is as influential as it is controversial. Riefenstahl was technically and artistically far ahead of her time; she invented various new film and editing techniques. But the glorification of fascist ideas makes the film highly controversial.

Riefenstahl had previously made films about the NSDAP on behalf of the Nazi propaganda minister Goebbels. In Olympia, Hitler is also frequently depicted, as are Nazi flags waving triumphantly in the wind. The way in which the strong human body is glorified in the film is strongly reminiscent of Nazi ideology.

The power of images
