The Nohilly Mansion

When My Jerry-Rigged Everything Apartment Caught Fire. ​"The Nohilly Mansion" was the nickname of the apartment where I grew up in Astoria, Queens. This video captures the shiftless essence of life in that dilapidated dump with my father....but in the story of a fire that suddenly erupted there, you'll also see he could be as heroic as he was irresponsible. It was so embarrassing for my father to have the firemen come up and see the dirty apartment he would rather suffer with the burns than have them see it.
P.S. After using all the Mansion's jerry-rigged fixtures and furnishings, you needed a butter knife to open the door and exit the premises. How ironic to have the flood 1 week after the fire.
