DMs Expose Alyssa Mercante as a Coward Against Vara Dark. In a stunning revelation, DMs have surfaced exposing Kotaku Senior Editor Alyssa Mercante as a coward against YouTuber Vara Dark. Vara Dark posted these messages, showing that Mercante backed out of a public fight and insisted it not be filmed. It seems Mercante has every excuse in the book to avoid facing Vara Dark.

Alyssa Mercante vs. Vara Dark: The Full Story. Kotaku Senior Editor Alyssa Mercante made an appearance on the YouTube channel Giant Bomb where she challenged YouTubers to fight. In her fiery rant, Mercante declared, "I want people in the industry to be a little bit louder about people being mean to other people and maybe say it’s not a good thing. Maybe say we don’t want you around if you’re going to be a ct and hateful. The games industry is naturally diverse, not because anyone is making them be diverse, because the world is diverse, you stupid motherfer. And if you have a problem with that, come fight me, physically, b**h."

Oddly, after issuing this challenge, Mercante was asked if anyone had taken her up on it. She responded, "No, because they’re all p*****s." This is ironic, considering her own reluctance to face Vara Dark in a public, recorded match.

Keemstar, known for his experience in setting up several boxing events through his Happy Punch Promotion, offered to help organize the fight between Vara Dark and Alyssa Mercante. However, Mercante rudely declined his offer, stating that she didn't like him and believed that no morally corrupt person should profit from her. This led many to believe that she was backing out of the fight and was scared to box Vara Dark, who was ready and willing to step into the ring.

Alyssa Mercante's hypocrisy doesn't end there. She celebrated Second Wind Editor-in-Chief Nick Calandra’s coordinated reporting campaign against YouTuber Smash JT, which briefly got Smash JT’s website and his Kotaku Detected web page shut down. While it was shut down, Mercante celebrated, "Oop! Website not detected! Huge shoutout to Nick Calandra who reached out to Wix about this site and consistently followed up. Clearly they agree that he was engaging in targeted harassment, among other things."

She added, "This is a great precedent, a great sign that there are people and places on the internet who know targeted harassment and cyberbullying when they see it!"

Vara Dark, unfazed by Mercante's antics, accepted the challenge after the video was posted. Dark wrote on X, "Can’t hit up this little b***h who's hiding behind a block, so send me a DM and let’s talk match details." She continued, "Let’s do one better and lay it out publicly. Winner gets $1k, loser has to put up content publicly announcing their loss (an article from you, a video from me) and what, 3 months for a venue and train?"

Despite the tough talk, Mercante's refusal to let Keemstar set up the fight and her attempts to keep the fight out of the public eye suggest she’s not as ready to back her words with action. What do you make of Mercante’s challenge and her comments?
