Ingredients:
4 fresh figs
1 sprig fresh rosemary
1 blood orange, juiced (about ½ cup)
1 cup cold lemonade
Ice cubes, for serving
Instructions:
Roast the Figs:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Wash and dry the figs. Cut them in half or quarters, depending on their size.
Place the fig halves or quarters on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the figs are softened and slightly caramelized.
Prepare the Aromatics:
While the figs are roasting, wash and dry the rosemary sprig.
Remove the leaves from the stem and roughly chop them.
Blend the Flavors:
Once the figs are roasted, let them cool slightly.
In a blender, combine the roasted figs, chopped rosemary, blood orange juice, and cold lemonade.
Blend until smooth. Depending on the texture of the roasted figs, you may need to add a little water or extra lemonade to achieve the desired consistency.
Serve and Enjoy!
Fill glasses with ice cubes.
Strain the blended mixture into the glasses, discarding any rosemary pieces.
Garnish with a fresh fig slice or a sprig of rosemary (optional).
Tips:
For a stronger rosemary flavor, you can leave the sprig whole while blending and remove it before straining.
Adjust the amount of lemonade to your desired level of sweetness.
Leftover lemonade can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. However, the flavor may intensify as the flavors meld together.
This step-by-step guide provides a clear roadmap for creating this delicious and unique Mediterranean-inspired lemonade. So, gather your ingredients, get ready to roast some figs, and embark on a flavor adventure with every refreshing sip!
