Northern Kentucky Project: Sunset and Thoughts - Encouraging Others

This is something I never want to start taking for granted. My career choice, building my business in this profession, allows me to enjoy the peace of the forest daily while also doing work to contribute to the forests health to through proper management. This line of work might not be the most glamorous when it comes to a few aspects of the job, but the sense of peace in my life while doing it cannot be replaced. I would rather work hard in the forest the rest of my life then sit behind a desk pushing papers all day for someone else’s benefit.

That is why I would like to give a little encouragement to those just making their way into the field, or even those who have been here for a while but not really liking working public sector jobs anymore. Consider going to the private sector. There are many private property owners who need forest managers for small forests that could use someone knowledgeable about health and management of the forest, it’s wildlife, and it’s ecosystem.

The sights you enjoy everyday can be exciting in its own right, such as coming across a baby fawn just born, or finding a wild turkeys nest just hatched. Having birds land near your face while you are stopping for a cup of coffee. This all comes together to allow you to connect with nature while also getting paid to perform a needed service.
