Someone suggested I give one of these a try. Looks real good, inexpensive and not too tough to make. Figured I'll give it a try in between other project lulls.

I know cement bricks are not the best choice for a long lasting stove. This is just a quick and dirty proof of concept prototype only. I have many ideas of my own and have received many fine suggestions from others that I plan to incorporate into the final build. Thin fire cement to coat these bricks for added life is one that I will use now.

For my instant heat on demand system, I'm thinking of welding fins to the interior and exterior of the barrel for more efficient heat transfer to the room rather than a forced air heat exchanger to the exhaust pipe which A) are pricey and B) need electricity. The direction I want is to migrate AWAY from the grid.
