Skaters move San Francisco ‘hill bomb’ 2 streets over after police barricade original location

Skaters raced down Church Street in San Francisco on Saturday night, performing their annual “hill bomb” event near Dolores Park.

Despite efforts by SFPD to stop the event by placing barricades on Dolores Street, skaters simply moved to Church Street. Police were present but did not intervene and even closed the street for the skaters.

Last year, attempts by SFPD to stop the hill bomb led to a confrontation, resulting in over 100 arrests. This year, Police Chief Bill Scott emphasized he would not tolerate violence.

Some skaters believe the city should collaborate with them to ensure the event’s safety.

Aaron Breetwor, a skateboard advocate, mentioned he had tried to engage with the city for a year to plan a safer event, but no substantial measures were taken.

Residents near the park appreciated the police presence, emphasizing the need for public safety, ABC 7 has reported.
