Yes, the bacterial pathogen Mycoplasma pneumoniae can cause vasculitis. This infection can lead to a number of vasculitis conditions, including:
Leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV)
Also known as hypersensitivity vasculitis or hypersensitivity angiitis, LCV is a type of small vessel vasculitis. Cutaneous LCV can cause an erythematous rash on the lower extremities that resembles erythema nodosum.
Urticarial vasculitis (UV)
A rare cutaneous vasculitis that appears as skin wheals that look like urticaria, but is actually small vessel vasculitis.
IgA vasculitis
Infections are a common trigger for IgA vasculitis, and *M. pneumoniae* infection has been strongly associated with it.
