Atlanta Police Chase and Arrest Shooting Suspects Fleeing in a Tesla

Atlanta, Georgia — On Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, around 5:00pm, Zone 5 officers responded to a shooting at 142 Joseph E Lowry Blvd NW. During the shooting investigation, officers learned that 4 male suspects occupying a Blue Tesla were directly involved in the shooting. While canvassing the surrounding area for the suspects, Zone 5 F.I.T. officers observed a vehicle matching the suspect description near the intersection of 10th St. NW and Techwood Dr NW. Zone 1 and A.C.E. Units responded to the area and were able to provide further monitoring assistance.

Because the shooting had just occurred an hour and a half before spotting the suspect vehicle, A.C.E. units were granted permission by a supervisor to pursue the vehicle and attempt a traffic stop. The APD Air Unit also responded and provided the suspect vehicle’s direction of travel from the air. A.C.E. units continued to pursue the vehicle along Lee St. SW using their emergency lights and sirens while using due regard. During the pursuit, the suspect driver lost control of the vehicle and was disabled.

The driver fled from the vehicle on foot while the 2 suspect passengers remained inside. The passengers were immediately detained by surrounding units and taken into custody. Officers detained the driver and brought him into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Officers recovered a firearm hidden under the driver’s pants leg. The suspect driver and passengers were identified and arrested. The fourth and final suspect who fled from units the day of the shooting was later identified and apprehended out of jurisdiction.

Isaiah Grimes (DOB 1/2002) Charged with: Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Jaiden Chatman (DOB 8/2000) Charged with: Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Use of Firearm by Felon During the Commission of a Crime
