British Columbia, Canada, set up a "racism" helpline in an effort to support individuals experiencing racist events, microaggressions and feeling unsafe after encounters.
We used a story we'd reported on previously as a backdrop - a story where an Asian woman complained she felt unsafe after a co-worker asked her if she liked sushi - and... of course, we called the helpline.
This is how it went.
