American Food vs UK Food

Why does American food contain more sugar and harmful chemicals than in the UK? American food companies spend millions on lobbying the makers so they will overlook stuff and not ask questions about chemicals they put in the food. Majority of the food you see in the grocery store is owned by a dozen or so companies. It's not a secret that Americans have a major obesity problem which leads to heart problems, strokes, cancer and mental health issues. It's not just the money factor that politicians get from the food companies, it's a lot deeper than that.
Another industry that lobbies the politicians is big pharma and their goal is to make money. The food we eat is toxic and makes us sick and big pharma comes to the rescue with medicine. Did you know that a lot of the big pharma companies also own the food companies? its definitely a conflict in interest but nobody in power cares because they get paid very well to ignore everything involved between the two industries. It kinda looks like population control if you ask me. With pesticides, apeel, GMOs, Bisphenol and all the other big words we can't pronounce, it's hard to know what we are eating and what to avoid. You could always buy your food from a local farm if you're fortunate enough to have any near you and can afford it but besides that there isn't much you can do besides look at the ingredients of the food and know which chemicals to avoid. I try to avoid bioengineered food but when you want to bread something like fish or chicken it's hard to find bread crumbs without them. All the brands we know and truth started putting them in our food now, Or maybe they been doing it for years and we recently became aware of them because they started putting it on the labels, In 2018 Congress required food companies to either put a bioengineered food ingredient label, a QR code or directions to a website or phone number. That's not enough in my opinion, Congress should ban these ingredients like the UK did.
