11-Colossians: Roles and Attitudes

Years ago, Professor Chuck Sturms introduced me to a concept that has stuck with me to this day: each of us looks at life, relationships, and the Bible through our own unique set of cultural glasses.
I was reminded of this again this past week while talking with a brother who’d had an experience teaching the relationship between men and women in a different cultural context and had someone walk out on the teaching because what was being taught from the bible didn’t match their cultural context.
As we enter into some challenging scripture this week, family, we are reminded that we do not twist, mold, or shape scripture to our culture or beliefs; no, we adjust our culture and beliefs to scripture where we learn what is to be our roles and attitudes.
