Do these restore kits work?. Restore kits. Are they worth it? I decided to try out the Meguiar's headlight restoration kit after testing rubbing alcohol on my headlights with decent results. However, I needed a more effective solution, especially since cheaper options I've used in the past didn't last long—often needing reapplication within a year.

The Meguiar's heavy-duty kit, which includes scouring pads, a cleaning solution, and a spray, proved comprehensive for restoring clarity. The application process involved cleaning and drying the headlights thoroughly before applying the cleaning solution. It was crucial to mask around the headlights to prevent overspray and ensure a clean finish.

Applying the headlight coating required a careful technique to ensure even coverage and proper drying and curing times. Despite minor overspray issues, I was satisfied with the longevity and effectiveness of the Meguiar's kit in restoring my headlights to a clear and polished state. This process provided a noticeable improvement over previous methods, addressing oxidation and enhancing visibility while offering a straightforward application suitable for annual maintenance.

The Meguiar's kit, labeled heavy-duty, cost me $35 on sale and included two scouring pads, a cleaning solution, and a spray. Today, I put it to the test.

The process began with applying the cleaning solution to a clean, cool, and dry headlight in the shade. Beforehand, it was crucial to mask around the headlight and quickly remove any overspray using rubbing alcohol, especially on calm days. After shaking the product well, I applied a quarter-size amount onto the provided pad and cleaned the headlight surface with a back-and-forth motion, reapplying as needed until it appeared uniformly frosted. I then wiped it clean with a towel followed by a damp cloth to ensure it was thoroughly dry.

Next, ensuring the headlight was completely clean and dry, I applied the headlight coating. After shaking the coating well, I applied one medium wet coat to the entire headlight surface, overlapping each pass by fifty percent, akin to spray painting a car. I let the first coat dry for three to five minutes before applying a second coat to fully seal the lens. The coating would be dry to the touch in three to five minutes and fully cured within 24 hours, so I avoided exposing it to water during this period.

Despite unexpected rain today, I managed to complete the process. Overall, I'm satisfied with the results, despite minor overspray due to windy conditions. The headlights now look significantly better than before. While I may need to repeat this annually, the process itself was straightforward and yielded good results. #MeguiarsHeadlightRestoration #diycarcare #HeadlightCleaning #automotivemaintenance
