2 killed and 3 injured in July Fourth attack in California beach city

Two people were killed and three others injured during a neighborhood Fourth of July gathering in Huntington Beach, Southern California, police reported.

The crime scene, a grassy median in a residential area near the beach, was processed by the county coroner on Friday morning.

A 26-year-old resident was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following the assault, which occurred less than two hours after the city’s fireworks display.

Local residents, including Al Pacella, who knew one of the victims, described the event as a friendly neighborhood get-together.

Evidence of the gathering, such as chairs and drink cans, remained at the scene. The district attorney’s office had not yet received the case, and charges could be filed by Monday, ABC News has reported.
