Australian girl, 12, killed by crocodile while swimming in creek

Australian authorities found the remains of a 12-year-old girl on Thursday, who was reportedly snatched by a crocodile while swimming in a creek.

The nearly two-day search involved land, air, and water efforts.

Her remains were discovered near the river where she went missing, in the Indigenous community of Palumpa, southwest of Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Police Senior Sgt. Erica Gibson confirmed the girl’s injuries were from a crocodile attack and described the recovery as gruesome and devastating, the New York Post has reported.
