Energy Wars with Cynthia Chung, Ep #56

Cynthia Chung’s education taught her that energy consumption is destroying our world. It taught her that the hole in our ozone layer was growing. It taught her that the destruction of rainforests was wreaking havoc on humanity. Industry was portrayed as something that killed anything it touched.

Cynthia’s research paints a far different picture. Cynthia dives into the fallacy of green energy in her docuseries, “Escaping Calypso’s Island.”

In her series, Cynthia points out that our entire lives revolve around energy usage. Access to the best medical care, nutritious food, clean water, and adequate shelter depends on energy. Access to affordable energy has diminished poverty, lengthened life, and increased quality of life.

We’re being told that there isn’t enough energy to go around, and that we have to focus on green initiatives. But is that true? Dive deeper with us in this episode of UPThinking Finance™.

Escaping Calypso's Island: A Journey out of our Green Delusion

The Greeks entered a 10-year war that wasn’t justified. Agamemnon, the Chief of the Greek tribes, sacrificed his daughter for good weather to sail to Troy. The war bankrupts Greece and destroys Troy. All of the men of Troy are killed and the women and children are enslaved.

Most of those who besieged Troy and survived died traveling back from Troy to Greece because they were “cursed.” Eventually, Odysseus is the only survivor. He spends 10 years wandering, trying to make it back home.

In the same way, Cynthia parallels that we are on the same trajectory. Poor decisions with energy policy are a matter of life and death. We’ve reached an existentialist point where we have to smarten up or we’ll face serious consequences.

The influence of game theory on society

According to Cynthia, “The crux of [game] theory is that an individuals’ behavior will always be motivated towards achieving an optimal outcome, which is determined by self-interest.”

Game theory influences all aspects of society, politics, economics, military, and philosophy. It’s how we think about possibilities and solutions. Game theory has limited our scope in a way that isn’t accurate to reality. We’ve been so entangled in a zero-sum mindset, embracing the idea that the world has limited resources.

Game theory gives us “win-win cooperation.” If one country has more economic wealth, it’s still in your best interest to have your neighbors develop. Those countries will provide great wealth if they’re more than a raw resource.

Most people don’t benefit from game-theory-based policies because it assumes there must always be a loser. Human nature is to want to succeed and prosper. We’re told that not everyone can succeed because it’s an old game of empires and feudalism to pit people against each other.

Renewable energy doesn’t help the environment

Solar waste will increase and likely exceed the amount of solar panels in place. There's a plethora of diesel fuels burned to mine for the minerals used to build batteries for electric cars. Yet we’re supposed to believe these “green” alternatives are somehow better?

Green energy is causing worldwide suffering. Millions of people without access to energy live in extreme poverty. But the truth is that limited resources are a fallacy. Watch now to learn more about the “green” lies we’re being fed.
