Ryan Garcia Kicked Out of WBC for racist comments

Ryan Garcia got kicked out of the World Boxing Council (WBC) after he repeatedly used racial slurs against Black people and made offensive comments about Muslims in a livestream on social media. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced the decision on the social media platform X, saying, "As president of the WBC, I am expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization. We reject any form of discrimination." Garcia then posted a sort-of apology on X, claiming he was just trolling and expressing regret if he offended anyone. Last month, Garcia was also suspended for a year by the New York State Athletic Commission after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, which resulted in his April 20 victory over Devin Haney being ruled a no-contest. Garcia’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
