NFL player Billy Price (29) retires after “terrifying” blood clot in lungs, doctors baffled

MAY 25, 2024. NFL player Billy Price (29) required emergency surgery for a saddle pulmonary embolism, i.e. a blood clot in both lungs. He will have to use blood thinners for the rest of his life, which precludes contact sports, because that could cause severe internal bleeds. Doctors have called the blood clot “unprovoked” and profess to have no idea what caused it.
