Does a good wifi adapter make all the difference?

In this short video I am putting this to the test with the assistance of my wife. The adapter I am using is a Wavilink ac1900 wireless adapter. The drivers for both windows and MAC OS come installed on the network adapter. If you are using linux you will need realtek driver 8814au to make it work.

My wife is off in the distance and her cell phone is configured to broadcast a network called THE ANTI CLOUD. She is in a white SUV one block away from a football field. I am sitting in the football field stands and attempting to pick up my wife's phone. Why does a good wifi adapter matter? In my house my wife doesn't want wired networking going all over the place so I resorted to purchasing this. I can pick up wifi signals from a great distance at half signal strength and connect to the wifi network I want to connect to. I figured that this would be the ideal solution.
