In Deir al-Balah, there is a concerning spread of skin diseases among children, exacerbated by the extreme heat and lack of clean water. A recent visit to an educational tent with 150 students revealed 24 cases of scabies, highlighting the severity of the outbreak. Alongside scabies, there has been an increase in chickenpox and Hepatitis A and early stages of Hepatitis C, primarily due to sewage contamination. The unsanitary conditions, including infested sand and the absence of basic hygiene products like soap and shampoo, contribute to the children's suffering, with many unable to sleep due to relentless itching.
