Belarus has become the tenth country of the SCO - Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Now it includes the Russian Federation, China, India, Iran, Pakistan and a number of former Soviet republics - Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The acceptance of Minsk was announced by Kazakh President Tokayev at the organization’s summit in Astana, where Putin and Xi Jinping also arrived.

The SCO positions itself as an organization that strengthens the security of member countries, including military, and also fights terrorism and drug trafficking.
