Budding rapper Ming Luanli recently appeared on the We In Miami podcast, where she candidly discussed her estranged relationship with her older sister, Nicki Minaj. The 18-year-old rapper opened up about her own music career, inspirations, dating, and the challenges of being bullied as a child due to her connection to the music icon. Despite sharing the same father but different mothers, Ming revealed that they were never close but shared a good bond.

“I’ve never called her Nicki, by her name, at all. Calling her Nicki always felt weird, I’ve always called her Onika, too,” she admitted. “But we was never close, but we had a good bond. She was always, like, busy. She be busy and stuff like that, I be doing my sh*t, too. But at the end of the day, I know that I still got love for her, she still got love for me, and I’mma still be proud of her.”

Ming also recounted the moment people started realizing her connection to Nicki Minaj, which led to uncomfortable and often painful experiences in school. Despite the challenges and comparisons, Ming is determined to make her mark in the music industry, even if it means striving to impress her sister without expecting to reach the same level of fame.
