We speak to Captain Stephen Coetzee, a flight engineer of legendary status in the South African Air Force. In this episode, Steve tells us about his career in the SAAF after the Border War ended. He went on several trips as part of a helicopter flight crew to Antarctica as well as Marion and Gough Islands. There he participated in a rescue which earned him (and others) the Air Force Cross. There will be another episode on his book which is available online. This is a fascinating story of the technical aspects of the Air Force as well as of the fighting, sharp, end.
