Box - Spoken Word Poetry

I was so close to them
But hated them and guarded that idea
All I saw were squares
But I took a step back saw a box

I always felt like there was more
But everytime I try to peak i’d get got
Took some more steps back and
my whole world was lost

Dear squares
Sorry for presuming your words to be inuendos or malice
Can’t tell if your sending subliminals or being mockish
That’s where the frustration comes in

Words are a plain
like a square
But then you add the real meaning
And you get a box

That’s where the metaphor ends
Because I don’t know another dimension
But now we have this box with
Just frustration and tension

I can describe to you my world
And show you why I’m hectic
But your eyes are in gaze still
You don’t realize these boxes needs protecting

I’ll always be the first one to trust
I only took those steps back to find a friend
The tears might make this box rust
And the tension make this box bend

But I forgive you and I love you
And as I bring you closer
That box becomes a square again
And I can find my closure
