SUMMARY: There are two kinds of democracy, direct and indirect, otherwise known as representative democracy or Republic. The common denominator is that the people are sovereign and that they vote, whether directly as in the case of ballot initiatives or indirectly as in the way we usually do for representatives. Republic literally is a synonym for Representative Democracy. So I’m saying while it’s correct to say we’re not a direct democracy and are instead a Republic, AKA, Representative Democracy, it’s not accurate to say we’re not a democracy. And that’s it’s for very good reason we’re not a direct democracy…because while a direct democracy may be more representative of the will of the people in the short run, they are short lived and the rights of the people can be easily voted away…that we are a Republic so as to balance the will of the people with the rights of the people. In any case, we’re failing on account of both right now, and that it’s only going to get worse unless these monsters are stopped. And I said, if you want to point out we’re republic vs a direct democracy, a good instance to do that would be to explain how we use the electoral college rather than the popular vote so as to balance our will with our rights.
