In 1607, the expedition led by Pastor Robert Hunt arrived in Virginia Beach, bringing with them a deep faith and an unwavering commitment to dedicate this new land to the glory of God. Upon their arrival, they planted a rough-hewn wooden cross, brought from England, in the sand and offered this prayer:
“We do hereby dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations, as long as this earth remains, and may this Land, along with England, be Evangelist to the World. May all who see this Cross, remember what we have done here, and may those who come here to inhabit join us in this Covenant and in this most noble work that the Holy Scriptures may be fulfilled.”
This covenant was not merely a prayer but a foundational commitment to honor God in every aspect of life. It is a powerful reminder that God is in control and that as long as we honor this covenant, our country will be blessed. Today, more than ever, we need to remember this dedication and renew our commitment to the principles it upholds.
Our forefathers understood that the strength and prosperity of a nation are rooted in its faithfulness to God. They knew that when we place our trust in Him and live according to His commandments, we invite His blessings upon our land. This is a timeless truth that remains as relevant today as it was over four centuries ago.
In times of uncertainty and challenge, let us remember that God is in control. His sovereignty is unwavering, and His love for us is eternal. When we honor Him and uphold the covenant made by those who came before us, we align ourselves with His divine plan. This alignment brings peace, hope, and prosperity.
America, let us renew our dedication to God. Let us strive to reach the people within our shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and raise up godly generations who will carry His Kingdom to all the earth. Let us stand firm in our faith, knowing that God is our refuge and strength.
As we honor this covenant, we can be confident that God will bless our nation. He will guide us through every trial and triumph, and His favor will rest upon us. Let us work together to continue this most noble work, ensuring that the Holy Scriptures are fulfilled and that the light of Christ shines brightly across our land and beyond.
May God bless America as we honor Him and remain faithful to the covenant established in 1607. Let us be a beacon of hope, a testament to His glory, and a nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
