Israel mall stabbing: IDF soldier killed in “terror attack,” police say

Released security footage from a shopping mall in Karmiel, northern Israel, captured the moment of a stabbing on Wednesday. In the video, a person can be seen running while another appears to be shooting at an assailant.

Israeli police said a soldier was killed and a second person was wounded in the stabbing attack at the Karmiel mall. Police called it a suspected ''terror attack'' and said the attacker was killed.

In a statement, the Israeli defense ministry identified the stabbing fatality as Aleksandr Iakiminskyi, a 19-year-old sergeant in the Israeli military. Medics said he was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other victim was being treated for his wounds.

A police spokesperson said a number of relatives of the gunman were arrested.
