Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced on Tuesday that the United States will soon unveil a military aid package exceeding $2.3 billion for Ukraine, marking one of the largest commitments since Russia’s 2022 invasion.

The assistance, authorized under presidential authority, includes air defense interceptors, anti-tank weapons, and critical munitions from U.S. stocks.

It also facilitates the procurement of Patriot and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) interceptors.

This move follows a decision to prioritize Ukraine for these systems, delaying deliveries to other nations.

The announcement coincides with heightened attention on U.S. support for Ukraine amid the upcoming presidential election rematch and the country’s ongoing confrontation with Russia, CBS News has reported.
