John Edward Jones died in Nutty Putty Cave in Utah on November 25, 2009 after becoming trapped upside down in a narrow passageway for 27–28 hours. The 26-year-old cave explorer had entered the cave on November 24, 2009 with his family, and rescuers tried to free him but were unsuccessful. The cave's owners then sealed it with Jones' body inside to prevent future tragedies.
