Save Money & Make Your Own Cafe-Style Drink: The Kiwi Lime Cooler
Kiwi Lime Cooler
Here's a step-by-step guide to making a delicious Kiwi Lime Cooler:
Ingredients:
2 ripe kiwis, peeled and roughly chopped
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 cup cold lemonade (homemade or store-bought)
Ice cubes, for serving
Optional Garnishes: Fresh mint leaves, sliced kiwi, lime wedges, or a sprinkle of chia seeds
Instructions:
Prep the Kiwis: Wash the kiwis thoroughly. Peel them with a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife. Slice the kiwis into roughly chopped pieces.
Extract the Lime Juice: Wash the lime and cut it in half. Using a manual citrus reamer or a fork, squeeze out the juice from one half of the lime. Aim for about 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice. Adjust the amount to your taste preference.
Blend the Base: Add the chopped kiwis and lime juice to a blender. Pour in the cold lemonade. Pulse the blender a few times until the mixture is smooth and the kiwi chunks are well-blended. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender a couple of times for even blending. 4. Adjust & Chill: If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a little more lemonade or water a tablespoon at a time until desired. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness or tanginess by adding more lime juice or a touch of honey/sugar if desired. Pour the blended mixture through a strainer into a serving pitcher or individual glasses filled with ice cubes.
Garnish & Serve: This step is optional, but highly recommended for an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal. Garnish your Kiwi Lime Cooler with a sprig of fresh mint, a sliced kiwi wedge, a lime wedge, or a sprinkle of chia seeds. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Tips:
Use ripe kiwis for the best flavor and sweetness. If your kiwis are not quite ripe, you may need to add a touch of honey or sugar to balance the tartness.
For a thicker and creamier cooler, add a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt or frozen yogurt to the blender along with the other ingredients.
If you don't have fresh limes, you can substitute 1 teaspoon of bottled concentrated lime juice. However, fresh lime juice will always have a brighter flavor.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. The mixture may separate slightly, so give it a good stir before serving.
