Gladiator II is Ridley Scott Ruining What is Left of His Reputation

November 22, 2024 will be a day that will live in infamy. Ridley Scott unleashes the most unnecessary sequel in history upon the world and jettisons what remains of his reputation in the process.

The first look behind the scenes for Gladiator II has happened, via Vanity Fair, and it doesn't look good. It reads like a re-treading of the original film with a subpar, modern cast. Pedro Pascal playing the antagonist is simply uninspired. Denzel Washington playing the elder statesman is cool, but his brilliance will be wasted on a washed Scott.

It's not too late to cancel this project, even though it is costing Warner Bros. upwards of $400 Million...
